"I am mesmerized by the pet paintings you have done. How did you ever figure out how to paint their souls?" Deborah C.

dog portrait Boxer original oil painting

"Lacey"
12x9 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
Here's is beautiful Lacey, with her heart melting eyes and velvety ears (which I'm so very happy weren't cut as is often done).  I'd had a Boxer once many years ago and recall petting those velvety soft ears, rounded forehead and strong body.  In this portrait I especially like Lacey's alert posture.  Originally I'd contemplated cropping the bottom about an inch or so but then considered how expressive she was so chose to present her sitting tall.  Boxers have such sweet dispositions...maybe you'd consider visitng your local rescue to adopt a sweetheart as lovely as Lacey!

Thank you SO much, Gail. I immensely enjoyed creating this oil painting of Lacey! I think having a Boxer myself for a time brought back many memories which likely infused into this portrait. Thank you for your lovely comments. Jeanne

Hello Jeanne,
That mug shot is priceless. I have never met Lacey, but I feel I know what she's all about. Beautiful work.

Thank you SO much Anyes! My clients provide me with some wonderful photos which I edit very slightly to enhance the expression, posture, etc. Lacey appears to be so attentive here, I chose to keep the extra 2 inches at the bottom of her portrait as I felt it enhanced her perky attitude. She's absolutely adorable with that soft face, isn't she? Thank you for your lovely comments, Jeanne
