Large Custom Dog Portrait English Setter rescue oil painting Lizzie Tennis Ball Dog Bone

Lizzie
20x16 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
The first image I saw of beautiful Lizzie was with her sister, both wearing tutus in my client's wedding; they were absolutely adorable!  So when she recently passed, I was was honored to create her portrait, nearly lifesized, shown here on a yard of black and white checked fabric along with her favorite toys, a tennis ball and bone.  It was a joy painting her fur with every nuance of spotted markings, especially her nose and eyes...such a beautiful and especially sweet girl.

This was quite a lot of fun to paint.  Working from an old photograph from 1973, I'd color corrected it in my mind's eye while painting, lowered the roofline, raised the ground level, moved the left window toward the center more, and added a third window in order to improve the composition. Such a nostalgic painting and my client is absolutely thrilled with it, saying I captured her and Freckles even better than the photograph!

Here is the second portrait of adorable Finch.  His cute little smile and whispy fur make him all the more endearing.  Creating portraits is always such a joy which is only enhnaced by my clients' responses such as having captured his incredible personality as he was truly was one in a zillion!

chinese crested mix Custom Small Dog Portrait in Oil Finch Looking Up

Finch Looking Up!
12x12 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
Adorable little Finch is looking up from the checked carpet with such an endearing countenance.  This is one of two custom portraits of Finch which were painted in memoriam, which is always an honor for me.  Here I'd relocated the pattern of the carpet to fit nicely under Finch, which is just another of those little (and sometimes big) changes I routinely make to improve the composition from the original photos.

Dear jeanne,
I have some really wonderful news to share with you today. Taiwan has just passed a historic ban on all commercial trade in marine mammals! This is a major step forward in marine mammal protection, and a key development in the campaign to end Canada’s commercial seal hunt.
HSI and our partner group EAST have been working since 2010 to close the Taiwanese market for seal products and today we can declare victory. The Canadian government lobbied hard against us trying to block this ban, but we pushed back and we succeeded.
Taiwan’s decision has set an important example for other nations in the region and will hopefully help to inspire China to follow suit. The movement to end seal product trade is spreading in Asia and we are thrilled.
Today is a great day for seals and we could not have done this without your continued support. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Aldworth
