English Setter Custom Dog Portrait Lizzie

Lizzie
20x16 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
The first image I saw of beautiful Lizzie was with her sister, both wearing tutus in my client's wedding; they were absolutely adorable!  So when she recently passed, I was was honored to create her portrait, nearly lifesized, shown here on a yard of black and white checked fabric along with her favorite toys, a tennis ball and bone.  It was a joy painting her fur with every nuance of spotted markings, especially her nose and eyes...such a beautiful and especially sweet girl.

From my studio windows....

From my studio windows....
It's been an unseasonably warm Autumn here and the colors are lingering beautifully.  Here's an image from my studio yesterday before the Maple tree burst into bright yellow.  This doe had her fawns with her and immediately following the photo a buck came galloping through and they all ran into the woods.  Today before painting, I was lingering in the warm breeze on the porch where I watched two flocks of turkeys browsing beneath the tree as well.  The squirrels are always entertaining as they cautiously spy on the turkeys from behind the tree.  My hubby is always feeding the wildlife.  It's just wonderful to be so intimate with nature.

"Best Friends"
Phineas and Nicholas
Here are best friends Finn and Nick wearing their matching green plaid jackets and booties while sitting on a snow covered bench by the Alice in Wonderland statue in Central Park, NYC.  This was a particularly charming painting as it was commissioned by a daughter for her parents, who had previously commissioned portraits of their daughter's dogs some years prior...a reciprocal gift of love.
