Chihuahua cutom dog portraits painted with love

Chrissy
10x8 inches oil on panel
SOLD
This portrait of adorable little Chrissy was painted in memoriam, as are so many of my pet portraits;  I always feel honored to fulfill such a request especially from a fellow artist. I just love her rosey pink nose with fawn and white coloring, and a hint of her pink collar is so complementary. Chrissy was loved by everyone who met her, and one look into those big, beautiful eyes I can absolutely see why!

Oil painting of Maggie a Rat Terrier who is a rescued pup happy in her new home! orange & white striped sheets & quilt

"Maggie"
10x8 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
Maggie, a Rat Terrier, was rescued by my client's daughter when she saw a photo of her online.  It was love at first sight!  So, although ill at the time, she hopped on a train and endured the 3+ hour ride to meet Maggie for the first time.  They had another pup there also, just in case she didn't like Maggie.  Well, you can anticipate the happy ending...she took both home right away!  Maggie spent the first week in her new home, huddled in a corner shivering with fear, but as you can see, her recovery is fabulous!  Love conquers all.  Look for her new brother, Buster a Beagle mix, coming up on my blog tomorrow!

"Buster"...another "tail" of rescue and adoption custom pet portraits

"Buster"
8x10 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
...and here's Maggie's new brother, Buster, a Beagle mix who is also a rescued pup!  When you scroll down to see Maggie, you'll realize that it was truly a blessing that Buster was offered for adoption at the same time.  I suspect that Buster helped Maggie recover from her intense fear, and likewise, Maggie must have helped Buster.  Together they are enjoying a new life full of love and security with lots of play time!  They're truly special little pups.  Everytime I've heard of rescued animals being adopted, and from my own personal experiences, it seems they never forget who saved them!  I just love stories like Maggie and Buster with happy endings...or shall I say happy beginnings!
If you have a story of rescuing a pup, kitty, bird or horse or other little one whose portrait you'd like painted, please email me at jeanneillenye@sbcglobal.net

Darling Daisy Mae Amidst the Diasies Cocker Spaniel Dog Portrait in Oils

"Darling Daisy Mae Amidst the Diasies"
14x18 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
A beautiful Cocker Spaniel, Daisy Mae is even more adorable resting amidst the Daisies as if she'd been playing and just plopped down right on top of the flowers.  It was actually Daisy Mae's mom who suggested adding the Daisies, and I was absolutely delighted!   It was a joy painting her long, luxurious whiet fur as well as the rich shades of brown, particularly where it's wavy on her ears and forehead.  Quite a beauty and a charmer!

SOLD
I must admit, every time I create a new painting it seems to be my "new" favorite and this is no exception.  Not only are Max and Simba sitting perfectly together for a wonderful composition, but they are particularly dramatic with the lighting and the fact that this painting features them lifesized!  I'm still surprised as I study this portrait on my easel.  I'd only painted one other lifesized which was a gorgeous white Poodle named Leo, at the shore (see older posts).  This was a last minute request from a client for a Christmas gift which gave me only a few days to paint it!  Being that I normally paint in thin glazes and the fact that this palette is predominantly earth tones which cover well and dry extremely quickly, I knew I could do it with such a stringent timeframe.  I think I only have two more pet portraits to complete before year end!  Coming next are Leslie's Jilly and Tucker in her beautiful French Shop in Colonial Williamsburg, then white, fluffy Daisy! :o)

Beagle custom dog portrait Penny

Penny
24x18 inches oil on canvas
SOLD
Here is another lovely dog portrait painted in memoriam, which is always such an honor for me to help fill the void which is left when furred family members depart. Often client photos require some editing such as the case here where Penny's hind leg and tail were not shown, so I visualized and added them to complete the composition, as well as adding details in her eyes that were blurred in the original image. It is my pleasure to contribute this extra effort in order to bring my pet portraits to life.

custom dog portrait Daschund & Vizsla Mixed Breed Classical Dog Portrait in Oil

Zeke
10x8 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
Beautiful Zeke, whose unusual mixed breed clearly shows a lineage of Daschund in his long body structure and Vizsla in his face with golden green eyes and mauve pink nose.  Happily, Zeke is also a rescued pup!  After celebrating his recent birthday, Zeke is very busy preparing for the upcoming 14th Annual Mighty Texas Dog Walk.  He has also enjoyed the uniquely wonderful facilities at Barking Hound Village kennel that is proud to work with DFW Rescue Me offering pets "A New Leash on Life" as well as Paws in the City of Dallas to foster dogs until they find new homes.  Take a look at these websites or stop by to become acquainted with their good deeds and perhaps you'll even find a new furred friend (or two!) who will joyfully slobber you with big kisses of gratitude if you provide them with the love they so deserve by welcoming them into your family!

Westie custom pet portraits Hamish and Miss Penelope

"Hamish and Miss Penelope"
8x10 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
It’s always such a joy creating pet portraits, and being introduced to their personalities prior to a painting always helps me impart those delicate nuances of expression to their darling little faces.  Pretty Miss Penelope (right) absolutely adores handsome Hamish (left) and follows him everywhere, although Hamish does sometimes need his alone time, too.

Custom Oil Portrait
Carol and Freckles, October, 1973
18x14 inches / oil on panel
SOLD

This was quite a lot of fun to paint.  Working from an old photograph from 1973, I'd color corrected it in my mind's eye while painting, lowered the roofline, raised the ground level, moved the left window toward the center more, and added a third window in order to improve the composition. Such a nostalgic painting and my client is absolutely thrilled with it, saying I captured her and Freckles even better than the photograph!

BOXER CUSTOM DOG PORTRAIT OIL PAINTING

"Lacey"
12x9 inches oil on panel
SOLD

I adore Lacey's alert expression, sitting tall looking straight into the camera with those big, brown eyes.  She's such a beauty!  Our own Boxer, Hansie a.k.a. Baron Hans von Beck, came from a show lineage but we chose not to have his ears inhumanely cut into those awful points.  I'm so glad to see that Lacey's ears remain soft and velvety as nature intended.  I used to love caressing Hansie's ears, so smooth and velvety soft, too.

English Setter Custom Dog Portrait Lizzie

Lizzie
20x16 inches / oil on panel

The first image I saw of beautiful Lizzie was with her sister, both wearing tutus in my client's wedding; they were absolutely adorable!  So when she recently passed, I was was honored to create her portrait, nearly lifesized, shown here on a yard of black and white checked fabric along with her favorite toys, a tennis ball and bone.  It was a joy painting her fur with every nuance of spotted markings, especially her nose and eyes...such a beautiful and especially sweet girl.
