"Carmen Miranda Amidst the Petunias"
"Carmen Miranda Amidst the Petunias"
8x10 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
Carmen was rescued from very bad circumstances and happily adopted by a loving couple where she was so excited to be free and healthy, she spent her days running everywhere with sheer joy! She has now settled down and finds it very satisfying to play the role of princess (as seen here) where she shares her home with two Labs, a Bloodhound mix, a Yorkie and ten cats. As small as Carmen is she rules! :o)
Maybe you'd like to visit your local rescue to save the life of a precious little princess and give her the home she deserves just like Jackie did for Carmen!

This portrait is an absolute confection! What a lovely little dog--and what a lovely painting! One can just imagine the coolness of the green grass, the sent of the flowers, and the soft, curly feel of Carmen Miranda's coat. What a wonderful keepsake of a beautiful little dog and a beautiful moment in time.
Thank you SO much Carol for your lovely compliments! The entire time I painted Carmen I was thinking how happy she is sitting amidst the cool grass and Petunias...a long way away from her previous existence prior to being rescued! It was especially fun to learn that this little puff of a pup rules the house! :o) Thank you for your lovely comments! Jeanne
Oh my goodness your artwork is fantastic. What a wonderful way to honor or remember a beloved pet! It is so hard to outlive a furry friend, having such a gorgeous portrait would be superb! Thank you also for supporting the organizations that you do.
Thank you SO much, Eileen! I adore animals so this was a very natural addition to my still life paintings which celebrate the earth. I know firsthand how heartbreaking it is to say goodbye to our furred and feathered friends, which is why I feel particularly honored when commissioned to paint a portrait in memoriam. It truly helps people feel closer again to their cherished pets particularly since I often work from very poor photographs combined with my intuition to create portraits that bring tears of joy! That is my best compliment. Otherwise, as you say, people will purchase a portrait as a keepsake knowing that we'll likely outlive our little (or big) furry family members! Either way, it's always such a pleasure meeting clients of kindred spirits and their furry bundles of joy! :o) Thank you for your lovely comments! Jeanne
